Features: 7.5

The Takamine Glenn Frey Signature Dreadnought has a solid Sitka Spruce top and solid Indian Rosewood sides and back. Topped off with a thin, fast neck making this a killer acoustic guitar.

With a gloss finish, I was a very impressed with the quality to detail and found no compromises that would need any attention.

One of the few guitars with a bone nut and saddle, which I consider the best, tops off the features of this beautiful guitar.

The Takamine Glenn Frey Signature guitar comes standard with plastic bridge pins. This is about the only thing I would change out, replacing these with ebony pins.

Sound Production: 9.0

I love the sound of the Takamine Glenn Frey Signature. Much of this would be attributed to the solid wood construction and the scalloped bracing.

Even though this guitar sounds fantastic right out of the box, I can imagine it will sound much better after a few years of aging. This would be a very good investment for your guitar collection.

Action: 9.0

The action of the Takamine Glenn Frey Signature was nearly perfect for my style of playing. While this guitar could serve well for either Flatpick or fingerstye playing, it is really set up a bit more for flatpicking.

Fingerstyle guitarists prefer a wider string spacing at the nut and this guitar has a standard string spacing at the nut..

Durability: 8.5

All solid wood guitars need special care - more than their less expensive laminated wood counterparts. With proper humidification and keeping the guitar in it's case when not in use, you will get many trouble-free years of service out of this well-made guitar.

Check out my article on Guitar Humidification for a detailed look at guitar humidity concerns and how to solve them.
