The video that is presented in this lesson correlates very closely to that of the Guitar Tab and Guitar Pro file that we have available for free download. To download these files you can click the link load a very detailed and professional PDF file complete with our Guitar Tab Teaching notes. We also have available for you, a free download of the original Guitar Pro file of this tune.

Feel free to modify the arrangement of the Guitar Pro File to suit your own tastes. Memorize the song and the arrangement. The only thing you may not do is resell this song for profit. It is copyrighted and for your use only.

Sugarfoot Rag Advanced Video - Special Note:

I will have three versions of Sugarfoot Rag Video available.

Sugarfoot Rag Beginner Video - The First Version, This page is the first version of this song and, is an beginner version based mostly of the treble strings. I've thrown in quite a few slides to really make it sound nice and not so much like a beginning version.

Also notice the position change or shifting of the finger between the 2nd and 3rd positions. The video plays at 100 beats per minute. You should capo the 2nd fret. The link to the first version is: Sugarfoot Rag Beginner Video.

Sugarfoot Rag Intermediate Video - Second Version: This page is the intermediate version of videos and we will explore this song on mostly the bass strings. Because of this, I would classify the arrangement somewhere between intermediate skill level and advanced skill level.

Playing on the bass definitely can drag the tempo of the song down, so practice a lot to get your speed up. There are are also some more advanced ornamentations like a three-note hammer-on to get you going, at the beginning of the break.

The video plays at 140 beats per minute. You should capo the 2nd fret. The link to the intermediate version is: Sugarfoot Rag Intermediate Video.

Sugarfoot Rag Advanced Video - Third Version: Back to the treble strings. This time I've added some really cool blues runs and I'm sure you will have loads of fun playing this. This version of the song is definitely advanced stuff and if you can play this a full speed, give yourself a big pat on the back.

If not, work on the Speed Trainer of Guitar Pro 6 and you will be there with strength and practice. The video plays at 180 beats per minute. You should capo the 2nd fret.

One thing I would like to point out here. This song played at 180 beats per measure is not the full up to speed version that you ultimately should play. While it sounds great at that speed, the song is usually played somewhere between 200 and 220 beats per measure, depending on the arrangement.

I have only played it at 180 because playing faster than that on the video looses a lot of lesson or learning value to you. Your are on this page right now.

Sugarfoot Rag Advanced Video - This lesson is available in the following formats:

Sugarfoot Rag Advanced Video PDF File

Sugarfoot Rag Advanced Video Guitar Pro File

As of this writing, I have not put together the Guitar Pro 6 file or the Tablature and Notation of this song. This will be coming along in a few weeks. In the mean time, listen and watch the videos and I'm sure you will pick up a LOT, especially from the slow versions. Good Luck!

All of these files were authored in eMedia's Guitar-Pro. This is the favorite tab and notation authoring software for us here at Ultimate Guitar OnLine. It is filled with features and is simple to use - even without a manual. It is compatible with PC and Mac. We use it on the Mac here and it is a pleasure to use. To see a full review click HERE. Otherwise if you would like to try a free copy of it, you can download the demo HERE and use it for 15 days.

Special note and update: Guitar Pro has just announced Guitar Pro 6.0 is available for download.

Sugarfoot Rag Advanced Video - Memorize The Song:

Make sure to memorize your songs. What is the easiest way to do this? Unless you have perfect pitch, you will have to learn one section or measure at a time. Once you can play flawlessly move on to the next measure and add it to what you have memorized. Continue this and make sure you can play the first half of the song, including the second ending.

Once you have the first half memorized, move on to the second half, doing the same thing with the second half of the song.
