Shenandoah Breakdown - Intermediate Tab PartB:

This Ultimate Guitar Acoustic Guitar Lessons consists of the "B" Part of Shenandoah Breakdown, which is the second half of this fiddle tune.

The "B" part is rather short in that it is repeated twice to meet the proper number of measures for a typical fiddle tune. There are 2 endings in this second part, with very little difference between the two.

What really makes this different than the first part or Part "A" of the break, is the unrelenting string of eighth notes that you must play, an play with smoothness. To help you with this, I have added ornamentals to give your right hand a break.

Shenandoah Breakdown - Tips On This Part B Break:

This break starts with the second half of a hammer-on that we left-off with on the Part "A" portion of the break. When you download the PDF of this song, you will have the entire song Part A and B together.

There's not a lot of difficulty associated with this part of the break other than playing the notes as smoothly as possible, without a break or missing a beat.

Once you plant a left hand finger on a note, try to keep it in place until it is necessary to lift off the string. This will keep your notes ringing through each other very nicely.

In the 7th measure you will note that the left hand switches into the second position to more easily play this string of notes. At your option you can stay in the first position and play these notes with your 2nd and 4th fingers rather than the 1st and 3rd fingers.

Probably the measure with the greatest difficulty is the first ending in this B Part. There are 2 pull-offs and the first half of the beginning hammer-on. Give this measure a lot of attention to get this very smooth.

You objective with these hammer-ons and pull-offs is to make it indiscernible to tell an ornamental note from a picked note - see how close you can come to this.

The second ending brings the break to a close, but if you wish to continue with additional breaks, you can easily adjust the last strummed chord to a quarter note and add a couple of pick-up notes to transition into the next break.

Our next lesson on Shenandoah Breakdown will give you some alternate measures so you can see how you can color a break to make it more interesting, more challenging and dynamic for your listeners.
