Rodriguez fc Rodriguez FC Classical Guitar

Featuring a carefully chosen, solid Canadian cedar top and solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, this Rodriguez FC model is a beauty to behold and play.

The headstock Brazilian rosewood, the neck is Honduras Cedar reinforced with Ebony, and the fingerboard is Ebony. A Brazilian Rosewood bridge and bone nut and saddles provide ringing tone and sustain.

Handmade Gold-plated tuners and Silver-plated frets are installed to last a lifetime. The body binding and wood rosette are exquisite.

The tone, resonance and beauty of fine guitars are all dependent upon the wood from which they are made. The wood used in the construction of Rodriguez guitars is carefully chosen and aged to guarantee the highest quality.

For backs and sides, Rodriguez uses Brazilian Rosewood and Indian Rosewood (Jacaranda).

For the neck, Rodriguez uses cedar from Honduras as preferred over heavy Mahogany. There are many kinds of Cedar, as the name is used on so many continents. The Honduras Cedar used is very hard and stiff, but at the same time, light.

Necks are reinforced with 2 Ebony strips on the underside of the fingerboard to give total rigidity and to eliminate movement cased as a result of the aging of the instrument.

Rodriguez FC

Features: 8.5

The Rodriguez FC guitar has a quality solid Canadian Cedar top which gives this guitar more volume and better bass response that the FF model. Other than this, this guitar is very similar in construction to the ff model.

All grain in the Rosewood is very close to vertical and the top wood grain is close to perfection as well. All wood in this guitar is carefully chosen and is aged for a minimum of 2 years before it is turned into lumber.

Tuners feel very solid and are of good quality. The rosette in very beautiful and adds class to this quality instrument.

Sound Production: 7.0

The combination of tone woods used in this guitar give it good character and the notes played in the lower register are quite good. The note played in the higher register are a bit thin, but this would most likely improve as the guitar is "played-in" and ages a bit more.

Action: 9.0

When the Rodriguez FC arrives, you will find that there is no need to adjust the action at either the nut or the saddle, which is typical of the Spanish makers. They do pay attention to detail. This too can be adjusted slightly if your playing style is a bit different from "standard". That is if you tend to play with a bit less volume - go ahead and lower the action a bit.

Durability: 9.0

All classical guitars are quite fragile and should not be abused, but this guitar is made in a shop that is free of humidity and that will help guard against cracks due to poor humidity control. With this as well as any quality guitar, insure that humidity is kept as constant as possible with humidifiers in the winter and de-humidifiers in the summer

The neck of the Rodriguez FC is constructed of Honduras Cedar, which is very stiff and tough. Also, the neck is reinforced with (2) Ebony strips on the underside of the fingerboard, which eliminate neck movement.

Customer Service: 10.0

Rodriguez is a quality luthier and stands behind any defects in their instruments. If no abuse is involved, your guitar will be repaired without any question. Also all vendors listed herewith will give you an additional warranty on these fine instruments.

Overall Score: 8.7

The Rodriguez FC is a pleasure to play and very impressive to look at. From the moment you pick it up, you can feel the quality in this finely detail guitar. Rodriguez guitar construction has been handed down from generation to generation and that certainly shows with their guitars.

Being that the Rodriguez fc is built from fine woods that are solid and not plywood, the wood is book matched perfectly and the guitar is put together with care, you can plan that this guitar will age very nicely and have a great voice in years to come.

I would highly recommend this guitar to the aspiring student or a semi-pro, looking to move up.
