We also have available for you, a free download of the original Guitar Pro file of this tune.

I will have three versions of Ragtime Anne Video available.
Ragtime Anne Beginner Video - The First Version, This page is the first version of this song and, is an beginner version based mostly of the treble strings. This is one of the big crosspicking songs that you will encounter. In this beginner version we will dive right into the crosspicking, but also there will be quite a few quarter notes to allow you to catch your breath and not have a steady stream of eighth notes - that will come in the intermediate and advanced versions of the song.
This is quite a straight forward break for this song and you should memorize it thoroughly before moving on to the next versions as they will become much more difficult. Capo the 2nd fret for this song as it is a fiddle tune and the fiddle and mandolin parts are played mostly in the keys of D major and A major. So that means 2 frets up. Be sure to download the PDF and Guitar Pro Files listed below to help you through this difficult song.
Ragtime Anne Intermediate Video - Second Version: This page is the intermediate version of Ragtime Anne Video, and we will fill in many more of the notes beyond that of the beginner version. Be braced for a LOT of crosspicking in this break. Watch your down-ups on your pick hand carefully or you won't be able to play up to speed.
Pay attention to the chord forms that are used in the lead. Notice how the fingers are held in place as long as possible without movement in the video. When played up to speed this is a very difficult break. Just play slow until you can play it very smooth and then crank it up a bit.
You should capo the 2nd fret. The link to the intermediate version is: Sugarfoot Rag Intermediate.
Ragtime Anne Advanced Video - Third Version: This version is very difficult. We have not only cross-picking, but triplet hammer-ons and very difficult pull-offs scattered throughout. If you can play this at even 200 bpm you can consider yourself a good intermediate flatpicker. You will impress your family and friends - any yourself. Good luck on this one.
Having trouble with your speed? Work on the Speed Trainer of Guitar Pro 6 and you will be there with strength and practice. The video plays at 180 beats per minute. You should capo the 2nd fret.
One thing I would like to point out here. This song played at 180 beats per measure is not the full up to speed version that you ultimately should play. While it sounds great at that speed, the song is usually played somewhere between 210 and 220 beats per measure, depending on the arrangement.
The link to the advanced version is: Ragtime Anne Advanced.
As of this writing, I have not put together the Guitar Pro 6 file or the Tablature and Notation of this song. This will be coming along in a few weeks. In the mean time, listen and watch the videos and I'm sure you will pick up a LOT, especially from the slow versions. Good Luck!
All of these files were authored in eMedia's Guitar-Pro. This is the favorite tab and notation authoring software for us here at Ultimate Guitar OnLine. It is filled with features and is simple to use - even without a manual. It is compatible with PC and Mac. We use it on the Mac here and it is a pleasure to use. To see a full review click HERE. Special note and update: Guitar Pro has just announced Guitar Pro 6.0 is available for download.
These videos are formatted in Quicktime format. Quicktime is an Apple program for both Mac and PC. If you do not have it you should. It is a great program and you can easily download a free version of the program.
Just click on Download Quicktime Player, and you will be taken to a download server. Just supply your email address and you can get a free download of the latest version. Also consider an upgrade to Quicktime Pro for greater flexibility.
Make sure to memorize your songs. What is the easiest way to do this? Unless you have perfect pitch, you will have to learn one section or measure at a time. Once you can play flawlessly move on to the next measure and add it to what you have memorized. Continue this and make sure you can play the first half of the song, including the second ending.
Once you have the first half memorized, move on to the second half, doing the same thing with the second half of the song.
