Often the classic Christmas song "O Holy Night" is played with an arpeggio style rhythm accompaniment with a second guitar.

This effect is quite striking on this rather slowly played song and the effect sounds great for the beginning to intermediate lead guitar that can be played with this rhythm.

This style of rhythm can just as easily played fingerstyle as well and be sure that you discount that.

The song is played in the key of G Major, but it utilizes more chords than the typical G,C, D7 the the relative key of Em, Am and B7.

You will also need to play a couple of difficult barre chords - Bm and F#7, so work on those chords to transition smoothly between the arpeggios.

It is extremely significant for this rhythm style to let all of notes ring through each other, giving this a very full and rich sound which will help carry the melody.
