If you are well on your way into flatpicking guitar, you will want to learn this break of Leaning on the Everlasting, as it gives you some real experience into the advanced beginner breaks and it even reaches into the beginning intermediate level. The reason for this is the cross-picking that is involved and the number of eighth note runs you will experience.

The hardest part you will encounter first occurs in the 8th measure and then again in the 10th and 11th and then mesures 22, 23, 24 and 25. These are, of course the rapid picking of the eighth notes so do your best. To start out, try to play this break at a leasurely 100 to 120 bpm and work your way up to about 200 for your final speed.

Just pay attention to the down-up stroke directions for the pick that are located between the TAB and standard notation and you will do fine.
