Great sound from this quality-made instrument. It has the typical Segovia-like sound with the deep bass and clear, high treble note production. I have a 1A that is 30 years old and I would imagine this guitar will come very close to approaching that guitars' sound as it ages.
This guitar parallel's the sound of the 4E very closely for about $1,200.00 less.
Action was typical Ramirez. Slightly high for my style of playing put perfect for the classical guitar concert performer. Intonation was perfect and there was no concerns with any string buzzing.
All classical guitars are quite fragile and should not be abused, but this guitar is made in a shop that is free of humidity and that will help guard against cracks due to poor humidity control. With this as well as any quality guitar, insure that humidity is kept as constant as possible with humidifiers in the winter and de-humidifiers in the summer.
The neck of the Jose Ramirez 125 Años is constructed of Spanish Cedar, (which is my favorite). This wood is very lightweight and extremely strong and resists string tension very well. I am rather disappointed that there is not the typical ebony reinforcement that many of the Ramirez model employ.
Ramirez is a quality luthier and stands behind any defects in their instruments. They also have a large network of distributors and they stand behind their products. If no abuse is involved, your guitar will be repaired without any question. Also all vendors listed herewith will give you an additional warranty on these fine instruments.
The Jose Ramirez 125 guitar has great response, volume and tone and I would definitely consider it concert quality for the intermediate to advanced guitar player.
With a street price of around $2,400.00, the Jose Ramirez 125 guitar is a great buy. The bass response and treble was well balanced and very loud for a guitar this new. I can imagine that in a few years of constant playing, the Jose Ramirez 125 will be a killer classical guitar.
The Jose Ramirez 125 guitar is a great buy for anyone interested in delving seriously into the advanced studies of the classical guitar and Ultimate Guitar Online highly recommends it.
