Imagine PartC Tab - Advanced Fingerstyle:

Imagine is another of my favorite Chet Atkins tunes, that Chet performed toward the end of his career. This Lennon song is absolutely beautiful and the way that Chet has arranged it, it almost sounds as if he and John Lennon collaborated on the song - it is that good. In the second verse, I have departed from Chet's arangement of this song and have included an arrangement of my own. Watch out for some interesting twists and turns in this song.

Play it slowly as that is how the song was written. The Guitar Pro file is set to 90 beats per minute and that is about right for this song.

Imagine PartA Tab - Chet Atkins:Before you begin this arrangement, use drop D tuning, so you tune your 6th string down 2 frets or to a D note, rather than an E note. Next the INTRO is a bit complex. These are triplet hammer-on, pull-off sequences. Just drag your left hand first finger to each new fret location, anchor it and perform the triplet.

This part is the first half of the sone or the Verse. It is played through twice before going on the the Chorus, which will be the PartB. Also we will go through tai one more time after that.

Imagine PartB Tab - Chet Atkins: This is the second half of the song or the Chorus. This is the part that really has the nice chord changes in it and you will love this sound. Good thing it is played quite slowly so some of the more difficult fingering is rather easy to master. Have fun with this arrangement and good luck.

The easiest way for you to master this song is to download the Guitar Pro file of this song. It is exactly the same as the PDF files located herein and the PDF file you can generate here was generated from the Guitar Pro file. I have depicted all the ornamentals as close to Chet's arrangement as possible and as close to the way that I play it as possible.

Imagine PartC Tab - Chet Atkins: This is the second time around on the Verse of this song. This time we will play many of the same bass strings, but the lead will be be played mostly one octave higher. Be sure to play the bass note quite softly as the high notes cas easily get lost with a big booming bass note. Also, the 16th note ornamental is played one octave higher, but rather than a hammer-on for the 4th note in the sequence, play it with a slide to make it much easier.

Watch the syncopation in measure 34 as well. This is important to get a very defined sound and a marked differece from the first time through.
