Did you think that the chords for this song just sounded too difficult to play? Think again! In our easy to follow, fully transcribed tablature, we will show you just how to do it - jut like the original recording as performed by the group America.

The song is played in the key of A Major, which gives us a lot of open strings to work with, making the chords even easier to play. You will note in playing through this song that the chords progresses much beyond the 3 chords of the A Major Key, which are A, D and E7.

We will explore such chords as Em7, Amaj7 and Bm as well.

The hardest chord in the progression of chords will be the Bm barre chord. If you find it too hard to play the 6-string version of this chord, feel free to play the slightly easier 5-string version, by eliminating the 6th string, or the lowest bass string on the guitar

If you like you can play the entire 6-string barre chord for the F major chord, but by far, it is easier to play it by using an open 5th string (or muted 5th), and the 6th string F note with the thumb of the left hand.

Other than that, just follow the chord diagrams and the fingering shown within the notation and the tablature, and you will be good to go.......

Now let's get into a discussion about playing the chords in a more stylistic manner.

You will not that the pattern shown in the free TAB download can at first, appear rather intimidating. Basically, all you have to do is master just one measure in this manner and all the other chords are played in a similar manner.

Timing is a basic 4/4 or common time, which is 4 beats per measure with quarter notes receiving the beat. Timing is played like this:

1 & 2 & a 3 & 4 & a. Notice that the first half and the second half of each measure is mainly just a repeat of each other.

Play the second sixteenth note as an up-stroke of your pick and place a bit of accent on that note. This should be a very natural movement of your pick and you will not encounter any problems if you keep your pick depth into the strings very shallow.
