Fire on the Mountain Intermediate Tab 2- Flatpicking Guitar Lesson - Tips On This Break:

Okay, let's take a look at the 3rd variation, that is shown in the tab below:

You can see that it starts out with a double stop (double notes played together). This should be played with a small barr of the first finger, which sets you up to play the next few notes in the 3rd postion.

Next, watch the slide at the end of the first measure. Slide with your 1st finger, which again sets you up for playing notes in the 3rd position that follow the slide. You then play the oen 1st string or E and transition back to the first position.

The balance of the break is quite straight forware with another slide in the 3rd measure.

Fire on the Mountain Intermediate Tab 2- Part A Variation #4 (Below):

The first 2 measure of the 4th variation are really easy and do not need any comments. The 3rd measue positions your fingers in the 10th position by playing the 12th fret with the 3rd finger and then the 10th fret with the 1st finger. Next you will play the 11th and 12th frets on the 2nd string with the 2nd and 3rd fingers, while still in the 10th position. You will need to catch the 12th fret, 3rd string with the 2nd finger for ease of playing and then you get some relief with the next note, which is the transitional open 1st or E to get back to the first position.

Be sure to memorize each of these breaks as they are important in your learning process. You can see how to take a basic beginner break from the first lesson of Fire on the Mountain, add notes to it and spice it up to make an intermediate break out of the song.
