Done Gone - Intermediate Tab PartB:

In this lesson on Flatpicking Guitar you will learn to play the Part A portion of the popular fiddle tune Done Gone.

While I term this an intermediate break, it is not quite up to intermediate guitar player levels. The only reason that I have termed it so is because of the difficult cross-picking passage that spans all six of the guitar strings, and this does indeed take the qualifications of an intermediate flatpick guitar player to play this up-to-speed.

The second part or the PartB break of this song is played in the key of Eminor and you will play the Em and B7 chord forms for your lead breaks. Keep an eye on the chord diagrams above the score and notice how they relate to the lead notes that you are playing.

Done Gone Intermediate Tab PartB- Tips On This Break:

This again is a very straight-forward, intermediate level break and you intermediate players should have no trouble at all playing this.

The first measure starts off with the Eminor chord form by playing the E and an open double stop of the Em chord.

This is quickly followed by a pull-off from the E note to an open 4th or D. The measure is finished up with the B note and the open D or 4th again.

In the second measure you will shift to the second position to play these notes and then the open B gives you time to adjust your left hand to finger the slide with the 2nd finger on the 3rd string and finish the slide up to the 4th fret to sound the B note.

Next there is just a touch of syncopation in the beginning of the 8th measure, so work on that technique to give some interest at that point.

The 3rd measure is quite interesting in that the Bnote is played both with an open 2nd string and a 4th fret of the 3rd string, giving this passage a "chorus like" effect. Sounds pretty cool.

The last 2 notes of the 6th measure through the 7th measure we make an octave shift to the next lower octave. From the first note, the B to the second note the E, just bend your left hand second finger down to catch this note.

So that finishes up the intermediate break of Done Gone Intermediate. Have a great time with this piece and we will see about giving you some variations on this piece next time.
