Having trouble with Crosspicking technique? We have a great article on Learning How to Crosspick.
This song is classic Norman Blake. It has all the nicities that make his flatpicking style so unique. Probably the most difficult method you will need to master is switching off between playing straight up and down flatpicking style guitar to including a chord strum into the mix, and this break has plenty of them.
Next - you have to master a hammer-on note prior to playing the chord combinations. It is best to look at the chord forms in the diagram above the notation score, form the chord and then follow the TAB or the score to play the combination hammer-on and chord.
Also, you should note that immediately after most of the chord strums, there is an up pick, usually of the highest note of the chord.
Memorize Your Ultimate Guitar Tab:
Make sure to memorize your songs. What is the easiest way to do this? Unless you have perfect pitch, you will have to learn one section or measure at a time. Once you can play flawlessly move on to the next measure and add it to what you have memorized. Continue this and make sure you can play the first half of the song, including the second ending.
Once you have the first half memorized, move on to the second half, doing the same thing with the second half of the song.
