Having trouble with Crosspicking technique? We have a great article on Learning How to Crosspick.
This portion of the break is truly an exercise in flatpicking crosspicking technique. Be sure to review the lesson referenced above to review this technique if you need to brush-up on exactly how to do this.
Probably the most significant thing you can do is to form the chords prior to playing the cross-picking passage. Once you do this, and plant your fingers quickly, you have won half of the battle. Also watch closely the up and down picking strokes that are indicated between each Notation and Tab staff. It is absolutely critical that you play the strokes exactly as indicated.
The last 5 measures of this lesson are nearly the save as the lesson Bully of the Town Advanced Tab PartA, so you can cruise once you reach this point.
You will find that one of the most difficult task here is to transition from the constant barrage of eight note cross-picking measures into a chord brush or a slide. Pure practice is the solution to this one. It will become second nature for you after some dedicated time spent on this.
Memorize Your Ultimate Guitar Tab:
Make sure to memorize your songs. What is the easiest way to do this? Unless you have perfect pitch, you will have to learn one section or measure at a time. Once you can play flawlessly move on to the next measure and add it to what you have memorized. Continue this and make sure you can play the first half of the song, including the second ending.
Once you have the first half memorized, move on to the second half, doing the same thing with the second half of the song.
